How well do I speak French? AAPPL - Fall 2019
As directed by the Utah State Office of Education, 5th grade students Dual Immersion take the Interpersonal Speaking and Listening (ILS) test each Fall.
In November 2019, 70% of our 5th grade students met their proficiency benchmark of Intermediate Low on the AAPPL ILS test, and 96% of students scored at least Novice High. Congratulations students! As a reminder, this test measures students' current fluency in French language communication: Since they will continue to take similar tests each year, be sure to look over the following links to see how your student can keep improving each year the test is offered.
AAPPL Interpersonal Listening/Speaking (ILS) - This test measures students' proficiency in carrying on a conversation in French.
The test consists of a single video chat about: basic personal information, the weather, weather-related clothing and activities, eating habits at home and at school, evening activities and hobbies, and places you like to travel and aspects of the journey.
We practice with in-class conversations, but everyone can take time to practice outside of class using the
practice test at http://aappl.actfl.org/demo (Demo AAPPL).
Students can practice as many times as they want. Students take Form A in 4th-6th grade, but everyone is encouraged to try Form B's demo as well.
